Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House
President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The president explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Attendees assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid policing efforts in the capital.
Honoring Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”
Memorial arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Measures and Policy Changes
Authorities have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy prompted the government to pause refugee claims and halt providing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” the governor informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
