The Streaming Giant Chooses Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the major clash won’t unfold until the third season, and a adored, popular member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Bentham. Bon Clay has the ability to change into an exact copy of any person they’ve made contact with with their right hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will depict a version of that figure re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag queen, in the live-action show, unlike the source material and anime.

Escola joins a number of new cast members who will portray the organization to reality, such as chief Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the ensemble as the ruler of the fictional land.

Though the role is a key figure of the organization, the character won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Considering the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this represents a notable change in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could signal more adjustments to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the role. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is due to premiere for its second season on March 10, 2026.
