PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
