Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Specialists Undergo Members of Parliament's Questioning In the Wake of Claims of Prejudice in Leaked Memo
We begin with queries from Tory Member of Parliament Caroline Dinenage, that chairs the panel.
She commences by providing context to the leaked memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and released in a national newspaper.
"It is not my wish for the BBC leaning this way or that way, I just want it balanced, impartial and fair," he declares.
Upon being questioned whether he believes the BBC is institutionally biased, he answers: "No I don't. It is important to note, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - encompassing factual and entertainment programming."
Nevertheless, he states: "There is significant effort that needs to be done at the BBC."
Another ex-adviser BBC adviser interviewed by the group, Caroline Daniel, states she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it has a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" on fluid and multifaceted subjects.
"Did the BBC ready to engage in a thorough discussion and debate and take action?" she questions. "In my view, indeed, they were."
