No league promotes parity in the manner of the NFL: it defines their identity. However, after the first ten matchups of this season, this isn’t a league featuring uniform distribution separating contenders, pretenders, and middle-of-the-pack clubs. It’s one where the majority of teams appear to be fine.

NFC Clarity

In the NFC, at least, the picture becomes more distinct. Los Angeles and Seattle (both at 7-2) seem like the most well-rounded squads across the league, and delivered blowout wins during Sunday's action. The 6-2 Eagles despite their struggles still have among the most gifted lineups in the league, likewise with Green Bay (5-2-1). Even the Lions (6-3), despite their uneven performances on offense and defense and have been dealing with coaching drama, have demonstrated they can defeat quality opponents. For each of these squads, one can readily construct a Super Bowl path.

AFC Playoff Chaos

In the AFC however, championship race remains completely chaotic. The four teams leading their divisions through ten weeks: Indianapolis, New England, Denver (each with 8-2 records) and the Steelers (5-4). Consider that carefully. No Chiefs presence. Not the Bills. Neither Ravens nor Bengals. Historically strong franchises, backed by premier quarterback talent, have either glaring roster weaknesses or have suffered medical setbacks.

Colts Situation

They've encountered the least challenging lineup in the league, and there have still been cracks. The signal-caller has been brought down 35 times – the second-most in football – with several hits he suffered last weekend proved brutal. Over time, those beatings accumulate.

Broncos Situation

Denver stands at also 8-2, yet it seems as if they’re holding their breath. Bo Nix has performed unevenly, with the attack struggling, as the defense handles the majority of the work. Absent adequate signal-calling, Denver cannot intimidate any playoff team. Los Angeles remains nearby within their division holding a 7-2 record, yet medical problems within their blocking corps will create difficulties to achieve championship contention.

Steelers Examination

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh exists, surprisingly atop the Northern division notwithstanding receiving a decisive loss to Los Angeles in the evening game. Last week, Buffalo was celebrating following victory over Kansas City. This weekend they encountered among the season's worst defeats during the campaign. They didn't simply fail versus the Dolphins; they suffered humiliation, dropping a 30-13 road game. It was Miami’s first win versus Buffalo in several seasons.
