Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a team of music creators. The track blends a combination of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The song is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
