Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points obviously but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with performances like these.”

He stated, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
